Where can you get fresh organic produce? well, we’re glad you asked…..

We stand by our mission to create a very special environmentally friendly, organic farm community that helps people reconnect with the land, themselves, and each other and with overall wellness. We invite you to become a member of the Douglas Valley CSA.

Did you know that the average vegetable you buy at the local supermarket travels 1500 miles from the farm to the store? Leaving you with fruits and vegetables that are picked days before you purchase them. The fruits and vegetables from our farm can last up to 3 weeks because they are picked the same day you receive them and only travel as far as you do! By joining the Douglas Valley CSA, you are engaging in a time-honored connection with the farmer and other members of the community. Getting to know the folks who grow your food, helps you to know more about the place and community in which you live.

What is a CSA?

Community Supported Agriculture is based on a partnership between farmer and consumer. This mutual commitment begins with members purchasing “shares” before planting time and the farmer using the money to purchase seed, equipment and supplies. In return for your investment, members receive a basket of organic produce once a week mid/late June through October.* (*on average)

Where do you pickup?

FARM PICKUP- EVERY WEEK Wednesday's from 1-6pm

IN-TOWN MANISTEE PICKUP- EVERY WEEK Wednesday's from 6:30-8pm. Location is on 4th Street in town, the baskets are left on the front porch.

TC PICKUP- EVERY WEEK Wednesdays after 4:30pm. Traverse City location is on the 400 block of Cedar St., the baskets are left on the front porch.

What will you receive as a member?

Our 2012 harvest will include around 20-30 different organic fruits and vegetables. Each week you will receive a generous portion of our produce. Contents will vary each week, with the season, and will be dependent on many factors. An example of a regular share might include: carrots, cucumbers, onions, peppers, potatoes, tomatoes, summer squash, garlic, and basil!

As a valuable member of our farm, occasional surprises might include, Douglas Valley Hard Ciders, flowers, jam and jellies or cheese.

You will also receive 10% off wine and cider in the Tasting House while you are a member of our CSA!

HARVEST POTLUCK
At the end of the season members are welcome to bring the family and join us on the farm for a potluck! This is a great opportunity to get to know all of the members and have a great time. There will be u-pick apples, hay rides, pumpkin patch, hay maze and more!

What if I am out of town?

If you are not available to pick up your share one week, there are a few options. You can make your own arrangements with a neighbor and share for the week or simple not receive your share for that week. It is important that you let us know ahead of time to make proper arrangements for the person you designate to pickup.

    DONATING YOUR SHARE
If you know ahead of time that you will not be able to pick up your share and want to donate it, email
kendra@douglasvalley.net or call 231-887-3333 to let us know. We then will make arrangements to take your weekly share to a local food bank.
